WALK TO SCHOOL IS FOR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES OF ALL RACES AND ETHNICITIES

California is a state with very diverse neighborhoods. Unfortunately children are at higher risk for pedestrian injuries and childhood obesity in some neighborhoods.

  • Young Latinos & African Americans are disproportionately represented in pedestrian injuries and deaths, in California and other states.
  • In California, one in three children and one in five teens is at risk of becoming overweight or is already overweight.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR LINGUISTICALLY DIVERSE RESOURCES

Thousands of children and their families speak a language other than English at home. Consider using one of the following letters to invite them to take part in Walk to School in the language they feel most comfortable using.
